In 2007, ESPN Fantasy Baseball presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods will be entirely free to play for the first time in ESPN’s 12 seasons offering fantasy baseball. The new game launches on the heels of a second-consecutive banner year for ESPN Fantasy Football – which doubled the number of teams and leagues playing in 2006 (compared to 2005).

ESPN Fantasy Stock Car Racing lets players create leagues ranging in size from 2-10 people, with each team having a roster of drivers from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Leagues can feature season-long scoring or weekly head-to-head matchups, and points are awarded in multiple scoring categories to players based on how their selected drivers perform, for example wins, finishing position, laps led and more. League Managers can customize the rules and scoring, and players have multiple driver draft options (including Live Online Draft, Automated Online Draft and Offline Draft, with results uploaded to ESPN.com). With ESPN fantasy baseball you can have as many teams as you want. The glitch is that you’ll need to pay for each additional team. The first team is about $30; ... if you want to have multiple teams you can sign up for a multi-pack. If you at all think that you may want to sign up for more than one team, go ahead and do it all at once because there is a big savings advantage. For example, a five-pack costs only $69.96 as opposed to the $150 it would cost if you signed up for them separately.

[One] tool in determining fantasy baseball projections is to investigate particular baseball players playing situations. If the player is on a new team, like outfielder Alfonso Soriano with the Chicago Cubs, how will his production increase or decrease? In this case, the home run and stolen base statistics should increase because Wrigley Field in Chicago is more of a hitter friendly ballpark. A player on a new team, like San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito, could see his win total decrease because not a lot is expected of the team this year.
