The Esperanto language is still relatively marginal in anarchist circles, but it does not take much searching before one can turn up evidence of its influence still today. The popular anarcho-communist site Anarkismo.net " uses the esperanto translation of anarchism to indicate that we want this site to become truly global and multilingual." [1].

The original draft, written by the committee's rapporteur Gianfranco Dell'Alba, included a clause mentioning Esperanto as a possible pivot language in the European Parliament. However, a subsequent amendment to remove this reference was narrowly passed by 14 votes to 12. The lobbying of MEPs is now aimed at reinstating this reference to Esperanto.

A declaration endorsed by the Esperanto movement in 1905 limits changes to Esperanto principle. That declaration stated, amongst other things, that the basis of the language should remain Fundamento de Esperanto ("Basis of Esperanto", a work by Zamenhof), which is to be binding forever: nobody has the right to make changes to it. The declaration ... permits new concepts to be expressed as the speaker sees fit, but it recommends doing so in accordance with the original style.

There are books and magazines written in Esperanto, and much literature translated into Esperanto from other languages. This includes famous works like the Bible and plays by Shakespeare, as well as less famous works which do not have English translations.
