In the weeks before solstice, the two effects act in opposite directions on the time of sunset: the declination effect pulling it earlier and the Equation of Time pushing it later. On 8 December the Equation of Time begins to dominate and sunset begins to move later. Meanwhile both effects are pushing sunrise later and later. After solstice, the situation reverses.

  6. Chiricahua National Monument
    Chiricahua National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service. The monument is located approximately 36 miles southeast of Willcox, Arizona. It preserves the remains of an immense volcanic eruption that shook the region some 27 million years ago. Called the Turkey Creek Caldera eruption, it eventually laid down two thousand feet of ash and pumice, highly siliceous in nature. This eventually hardened into rhyolitic tuff, (See: Tuff), and eroded into the natural features visible at the monument today.

UNESCO, in 1978 named this city the cultural patrimony of the humanity, because of its colonial architecture in the historic zone, which even now maintains the original Quitena culture.

    Glasnost was one of Mikhail Gorbachev's policies introduced to the Soviet Union in 1985. It can be read as 'openness'. Under Glasnost the people were told a large amount about the horrors committed by the government when Stalin was in power. Glasnost gave new freedom to the people, such as freedom of speech, which was a radical change because control of ideas had previously been a central part of the Soviet system.
