Eric Lindros was one of five NHL players associated with the hiring of new NHLPA executive director Paul Kelly. He worked several hours at ironing out the best candidate for the job and certainly seems dedicated to his role in the NHLPA at this point. But will he play hockey again in the NHL?

The career of Eric Lindros has two running themes: controversy and injury. Many people feel his parents, Carl and Bonnie, wielded too much influence throughout. He refused to join the junior team that drafted him, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. When he was drafted first overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1991 NHL entry draft he refused to play for them as well. Under bizarre circumstances in June 1992 the Nordiques made a deal to trade his rights to the Flyers, and then turned around and worked out a trade with the Rangers, trying to back out of the trade with Philadelphia. An arbitrator ruled in favor of the Flyers and awarded them the rights to Lindros.

Eric Lindros is famous for his off-ice tactics as much as for his on-ice talents. He was team captain of the Philadelphia Flyers from 1994 to 1999, and of the 1998 Canadian Olympic team in Nagano. The mere fact that he currently plays in one of the largest media markets in New York only adds to his already substantial fame.

In a surprising twist, word has come down that Eric Lindros has lifted his moratorium on playing for any team other than the Leafs. Coupled with that is word of a failed attempt by the Blues to land the injury-prone free agent. Rumour has it that St. Louis offered up #1 center and impending unrestricted free agent Pierre Turgeon in a straight up deal for Lindros. Lindros' father and agent, Carl, confirmed that if his son was traded to the Blues he would sign a contract.
