Though their productivity and record sales declined beginning in the second half of the 1990s, Erasure scored at least one Top 30 hit with the release of every new album. Few electronic bands have demonstrated the durability of Erasure. In 2005 Erasure made a comeback with their #1 position on the US Dance Chart, eighteen years after their first chart-topper. This success was mirrored in the UK with the debut single from Nightbird reaching #4 in the charts.

Erasure quickly became a fan favorite on both sides of the pond and continued releasing albums on a frequent basis. In 1988, Erasure released “Crackers International,” and a year later “Wild” hit store shelves. In their two decades together, Erasure has released a total of sixteen albums, including: Union Street (2006), The Erasure Show (2005), Nightbird (2005), Loveboat (2000), and Wonderland (1986). Additionally, they’ve sold more than 14 million albums worldwide.

For a band like Erasure, this kind of collection is the way to go. Even then, the second half of the album could be too much for the casual fan. The first half is a fun, guilt-less run through great pop songs including "Oh L'Amour" and "Sometimes."

Erasure's commercial fortunes reversed in 2003 with an album of cover versions, Other People's Songs. Showing a return to the pop sound that had catapulted them to stardom, the first single from the album, "Solsbury Hill", was a cover of Peter Gabriel's song and reached number ten in the UK Singles Chart. Erasure were invited to perform on Top of the Pops for the first time since they performed in March 1997.

Although appreciated for its experimental nature, Erasure marked the beginning of Erasure's slide from the peak of their popularity in the mainstream music world. Coming off five consecutive number-one albums in the UK, this album failed to hit the top ten and two single releases ... missed the UK top ten. After a successful top twenty debut on the Billboard 200 for their previous album I Say I Say I Say, Erasure disappointed some by peaking at number eighty-two and generating no Hot 100 singles. In Germany the album also peaked lower than previous albums, at number eighty-seven.
