Ephemera is the plural form of the Greek word ephemeron which means something that lasts only a very short time. When applied to collectibles, ephemera refers to the minor transient documents of everyday life that were intended to be used and generally expected to be discarded. Greeting cards, product labels, tickets, calendars, invitations and paper dolls are classic forms of paper ephemera.

Ephemera is an literature/art zine with a sprinkling of perzine. The art/lit part is open to submissions of anything written or visual, the only requirement being that it can be cut, pasted, and copied and that it fits somehow within the given issue's theme. This includes but is certainly not limited to: poetry, short stories, excerpts from longer works, non-fiction, written fragments, photography, paintings, drawings, digital art, et cetera.
