Environment Canada & Natural Resources Canada are working together to create watershed profiles using a national framework that identifies almost 600 watersheds across Canada. The project, Know Your Watershed, is 1 of 16 projects (more info at the following URL http://map.ns.ec.gc.ca/reseau/en/ ) being funded by the Treasury Board's Government On-Line Initiative. The purpose of the Know Your Watershed project is threefold. It aims to: * Improve public awareness in Canada of watershed geography. * Engage Canadians in responsible decision making using a watershed approach. * Demonstrate the importance of linking both environmental and human variables in a single watershed information system.
