Encoder-Plus For 95/XP calculates the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) according to the CMS specifications used by Medicare. DRG processing for two fiscal years is included. The patient age, sex, discharge status, diagnosis and procedure codes are used in the calculation process. The DRG, MDC, DRG Weight, DRG Average Length of Stay, and influencing codes are returned after processing. The accuracy of the DRG calculation process is a hallmark of Encoder-Plus For 95/XP.

The X1 Encoder makes efficient use of the available SCA spectrum. The generated FMeXtra SCA signal can be configured to use combinations of the lower subcarrier spectrum 53-76kHz, the upper subcarrier spectrum 77-99kHz, and even the stereo spectrum 20-53kHz when the main channel is operated in mono audio, all under software-control. Future upgrades include integrated RDS/RBDS signal generation with no extra equipment and no extra cost.

The Encoder-Plus For 95/XP data entry screen is formatted for logical entry of all discharge information. All required fields are clearly marked. Detail information about each field is available by positioning the cursor on the field in question and pressing F1. A window containing usage information about the field, editing performed, and reporting is displayed. After all data has been entered, all elements are edited for validity. If any errors or missing data elements are noted, error messages will be displayed in the right-hand portion of the entry screen.

In general, US Digital encoders are not that sensitive to the encoder disk gap. This is because the lens collimates the LED light into a parallel beam and keeps the light/dark pattern fairly uniform. However, as the encoder disk gets closer to the detector, the shadows cast by the encoder disk get cleaner and sharper. This results in better light/dark contrast and subsequently somewhat better performance.

Encoder disks are made of Mylar (.007” thick). The disks are durable, can be handled without damage, can be easily cleaned, and are unbreakable. They can be bent almost in half and will spring back as long as they have not been creased. They are stable over time and temperature and support high-resolution patterns.
