Both participants recognized themselves as a “not using Emoticons frequently” and “knowing only the basic Emoticons”. This indicates that both participants think there are certain groups of people who use more diverse and complex Emoticons, and they are not part of it. The standard MSN emoticons that come with MSN are quite limited, there aren't very many of them and what MSN emoticons there are just about cover the basic emotions. Fair enough, anger, happiness, sadness and various other emotions are all dealt with but those usual smileys are basically boring.
