You can ... find new stuff from Emo on the new Dj Vadim album "Sound Catcher" (bbe rec) ...It's now been some 7 years since Emo's break thru to the underground scene world wide. It came with his first release, the 12" EP Dubby Jazz Head-bobber, which came in December 2000 on the New York based label, Liquid Sound Lounge. It included the track So Fine, with the fresh Les Gammas remix that rocked dance floors across the globe. In a review of Emos second 12" release, Relief For Free, that came in 2002 on Stereo Deluxe Rec., the on-line record store Tunes.co.uk put it like this: Dubbed up lounge soul with real (and rare) depth that shows just how broad and quality-aware Stereo Deluxe really are.

Emo is a kind of music that is short for emotional hardcore. It comes from skatepunk, punk and hardcore punk. The emo movement started in the United States in the mid-1980s in cities like Washington, D.C. Though Today people tend to label other people as "Emo" as well, by his or her looks. "Emo kid" is a name given to someone who is emotional, sensetive, dark, depressive, and shy. Mostly with black short hair that covers one of his/hers eyes. Though Describing people as "emo" is a label which some teenagers find discriminating, people (mostly teenagers) tend to do that anyway.

Emo has in recent years started developing their waterfront. The effort is very impressive and definitely adds to the beauty of the charming village. Emo is just one stop on the "Historic Boundary Waterway" which links Rainy Lake to the Lake of the Woods. It is ... a scenic stop on the "MOM's Way" (Manitoba-Ontario-Minnesota) route.

The Emo Walleyedol will take place in two parts, on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26. Friday’s competition will have all fifteen of the competitors perform, and judges selecting the three finalists, who will then compete for the first, second and third places on Saturday night. New for this year, the audience on Saturday night will be able to choose a “Crowd Favourite” winner, who will receive a prize of $100, from the three finalists. Prizes will be awarded to each of the three finalists, $400, $200, and $100.

Emo is home for the Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society fall fair. This event held the third weekend in August each year offers a midway, grandstand competitions, agricultural displays and stock car races. This event is well-attended by area residents, as it offers an opportunity to meet and converse with old friends and acquaintances from Northwestern Ontario.

Emo is short for "emotional" music. One of the few things that fans accept is that its roots stretch all the way back to the Reagan era, specifically the first self-titled album by Rites of Spring on Washington D.C.’s Dischord label. After that, everything else is subject to debate, including whether many of today’s best-known bands (the Promise Ring, Braid, Jimmy Eat World, the Get Up Kids, Mineral, Karate) even qualify.
