Created for Sir Elton John by Slatkin Candles to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Deluxe editions are single-wick candles housed in elegant, octagonal-shaped frosted glass with gorgeous metal octagon lids. The candles are infused with some of Elton John's favorite scents and will illuminate for 40 hours for the original size and 80 hours for the deluxe collection. A percentage of the proceeds from these products directly support the Elton John AIDS foundation.

Established in 1992, the Elton John AIDS Foundation is an international non-profit organization funding prevention education and direct patient care services for men, women and children living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS. From 1992 to 2004, the Foundation has funded more than 2,417 grants in North America. To date, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has distributed over $50 million to fund HIV/AIDS programs around the world. In a career spanning five decades, Elton John has sold over 250 million records and has over 50 Top 40 hits, making him one of the most successful musicians of all time. Elton John was deeply affected by the plight of Ryan White, an Indiana teenager with AIDS. Along with Michael Jackson, John befriended and supported the boy and his family until White's death in 1990. Himself a mess and confronted by his then-lover, John checked into a Chicago hospital in 1990 to combat his drug abuse, alcoholism, and bulimia. In recovery, he lost weight and underwent hair replacement, and subsequently took up residence in Atlanta, Georgia. Also in 1990, John would finally achieve his first UK number one hit on his own, with "Sacrifice" (coupled with "Healing Hands") from the previous year's album Sleeping with the Past; it would stay at the top spot for six weeks.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation gala is the most highly visible and successful fundraising event in Hollywood on Oscar night. Last year this annual gala event made history when it raised a record-breaking $4.3 million and over the past 15 years the event has generated over $15 Million for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Event organizers hope to top last year's success in an effort to further increase EJAF's investments in its grant-making initiatives which support prevention education programs, harm reduction, and direct services to persons living with HIV/AIDS, especially populations with special needs.
