Register to comment on Stateline.org Stories Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm told North Dakotans in October that he'd run for election this year. He made it official Wednesday, saying he wants a four-year term to continue and expand consumer health insurance and prescription drug programs.

This morning electionline.org is highlighting a story in the Seattle Times, which reports that 18 ballots were apparently not counted in their recent September primary election. Apparently of these 18 uncounted ballots, 16 were found in a box (uncounted) and two absentee ballots were not counted simply becasue they were sent in some non-standard envelope which election workers seemed to fail to realize contained ballots (and ... were not counted).
Two formal items were presented to the stockholders for approval - the election of six directors and the approval of the 2006 Stock Option Plan. Each of management's six nominees were re-elected for a one year term: Dr. Rudolf W. Gunnerman, Richard L. Masica, Robert Henri Charles van Maasdijk, Dr. Raad Alkadiri, Dr. Hannes Farnleitner and Christoph Henkel. In addition, the 2006 Stock Option Plan was approved by a majority of the voting stockholders.

Combined with cash raised in his previous bids for the seat, Scalise, a Republican, has more than $274,000 on hand to spend in the truncated special election. The first party primaries are scheduled for March 8.
