The official language of Egypt is the Egyptian dialect of Modern Arabic. Egyptian Arabic differs in that the letter jim is pronounced g instead of j. Travelers are unlikely to encounter difficulties finding someone who speaks English, especially in tourist centers. Egyptians are eager to improve their English, and so offering a few new words or gently correcting their mistakes is appreciated.

According to an Algerian official report, economic cooperation between Algeria and Egypt “is considerably developing”. Egyptian investments in Algeria occupy the first place among Arab investments with about 2.3 billion dollars, the report recorded. They include communication, construction, cement manufacturing, electricity, electronic sector and medicines. The report noticed that Investment Development National Agency had recorded around 28 Egyptian investment projects till October 2004. Five of them are in the framework of partnership. These projects are likely to provide over 7 thousand jobs.
