Edie Sedgwick: Songs
built 161 days ago
Edie Sedgwick produced an album that presents a strange outlook on the world, one that will amuse ideologues and philosophers alike, at least for a few spins. In the end... both the band’s rough-around-the-edges bass-and-drum songs and its skewed view of reality don’t make First Reflections an album that’s good for much more than the casual and quickly fading intellectual curiosity it sparks.

Reflections is Edie Sedgwick's initial recording. This duo, formerly a bass/drum duo known for postmodern diatribes and songs about celebrities, is now a solo electronic drag extravaganza known for postmodern diatribes and songs about celebrities. Edie's second LP, Her love is real...but she is not will be released on DeSoto in March 2005. For more information about Edie Sedgwick, go to www.ediesedgwick.biz or the DeSoto site.

A conceptual bass-and-drum duo that takes its name from a starlet who appeared in several Andy Warhol films before her premature death, Edie Sedgwick proffers its view of "post-Warholism." Rather than talk about emotions, or write songs rejecting those emotions, the band's haiku-like songs pay tribute to celebrities. More of an artistic statement than a band proper, Edie Sedgwick's music isn't as important as the message behind it.

The alternative rock band Dramarama used a photograph of Sedgwick on their album Cinéma Vérité. On that album, the song "All I Want" makes a reference to Edith Sedgwick Post. Dramarama ... recorded a version of The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" on their first "Cinema Verite" and their debut EP Comedy.
