Some causes related to cardiovascular disease: Edema is a common symptom seen with heart failure. This is because heart failure leads to sodium retention, which causes an accumulation of fluid in the body.
Edema is the excessive accumulation of fluid (swelling) in the soft tissues of the body. If you have edema for a long period of time, you may develop pigmentation, reddening, and/or hardening of the skin.
