Eastenders Kevin Wicks 'EastEnders' was named Best Soap and there were ... awards for onscreen couple Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater) and Charlie Clements (Bradley Branning) who were named Best Actress and Best Newcomer. The duo also shared the award for Best Couple.
The Eastenders source added: "Shabnam's definitely going to turn heads. She's 21, fresh from university and has no idea what she wants to do with her life. To keep her going, her mum gives her a job at the Post Office."
The cast of Eastenders are always in a perpetual state of misery. They never seem able to surmount the obstacles in their way. Whenever a cast member seems to find a problem too overwhelming to deal with, the state is generally expected to solve the problem.

Facing the Challenge of a Hostile World It would be so nice to see something truly original in Eastenders. Rather than just more relational intrigue, rather than going for the sensational and unbelievable story line, rather than pretend to be tackling issues, why not do something genuinely new?
Dot Cotton, Ethel Skinner and Lou Beale were Walford's original pensioners. Pauline Fowler's death in December 2006 meant that Ian Beale is the only character to have been in EastEnders from the first episode without making any exits. His portrayer is ... the only remaining original cast member currently appearing in the show. Dot Branning joined later in 1985, while Pat Evans first appeared in 1986. Dot had a four-year break in the mid 1990s, but Pat has been a regular character since her arrival, and has never officially left.
