Dr. Shepherd was the originator of the Multimedia Technology program at Duquesne University. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes, as well as graduate level classes within the Business school concentrating on e-commerce. Previous to joining Multimedia, he was an Associate Professor in Duquesne's Business School. His professional experience includes development of an expert system for a health organization, and former partner of a software company that designed, developed, and marketed a LAN-based, multi-user hospital pharmacy management system.

This first opportunity to study law in Beijing was inaugurated in 1995 by the Duquesne University School of Law. The program is officially ABA approved and co-sponsored by China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China's largest and most prestigious law school. The Summer Study of Law in Beijing, China Program offered by the Duquesne University School of Law is considered to be one of the best of its kind offered in the United States. This popular program provides law students from all over the world the unique opportunity to discover and learn about the legal system in the country of China. Students who are enrolled in this program will travel to the city of Beijing, China to take legal course-work that will enhance their understanding of Chinese law.

There are over 5,800 alumni of Duquesne Law School practicing in all 50 states and several foreign countries. Almost 30 percent of the practicing lawyers in western Pennsylvania are graduates of the law school. A large number of graduates from Duquesne Law are judges on the local, state, and federal levels, including the highest courts and appellate courts in over 20 states.
