Of the two, “Duck Tales” is a little better. This series tells the story of Donald’s famous nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie as they live with their Uncle Scrooge. Donald makes an occasional appearance, but otherwise he’s kept busy in the Navy (which makes sense, considering he’d been parading around in a sailor outfit for fifty years).

This follow-up to 1989's Duck Tales was released by Capcom in 1993. Scrooge McDuck sets out once again to find treasure and bounce around on his cane a lot, all for the sake of Mercantilism.

Donald Duck is almost entirely absent in DuckTales. At the beginning of the series, he leaves Huey, Dewey, and Louie with Scrooge, and goes off to join the Navy to see the world. Afterwards, he makes a few sparse guest appearances but is generally not a part of the show. This is perhaps the starkest departure from the comics, where Donald was always a major player. The reasons for excluding Donald are unknown, but it is thought that perhaps the producers feared that the presence of Donald, one of the most well-known cartoon characters of all time, would inevitably overshadow that of Scrooge, who was, after all, supposed to be the star. Launchpad McQuack was created largely to fill Donald's role, taking his place on many adventures.

An after-school favourite of young viewers throughout the late-1980s, DUCKTALES chronicled the wacky adventures of millionaire Scrooge McDuck (a relative of Donald Duck) and his mischievous feathered nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. As Scrooge constantly thinks up new ways to expand his wealth, the boys help out by guarding his gold from the villainous Beagle Boys. With each episode, the gang finds itself immersed in a new series of animated journeys, often in search of glistening treasure. While Scrooge may be protective of his wallet, he ... develops a soft spot for the young ducks Donald Duck left in his care after joining the Navy. Often joining in for the ride are frequent characters like Gyro Gearloose, Mrs. Beakley, Webbigail Vanderquack, and of course the Beagle Boys.

The graphics are true to the original Duck Tales cartoon and give a nice feeling to the game. As far as the sound goes it's rather straightforward without impressing too much, but feels nicely worked through and doesn't get annoying. That should be seen as a success, as many games from this time played sounds that would have any composer rolling around in his grave. The playability is still ok, even if you have to tap the keys really quick in some levels without holding them down, or else your character will start looking like a kangaroo on drugs.
