The 1098 has already thrilled loyal Ducatisti with its dramatic unveiling this summer. Seeing it in person, Gobert compares its racing lines to the spectacular, and also thrilling, Desmosedici RR. The Ducati 1098S is 4 lbs lighter than the regular 1098 in large part because of its wheels. The forged alloy Marchesini units on the S-model sport a red pinstripe to denote the difference.
Ducati 999s Team USA Edition Ducati ... has a plan to increase the exclusivity factor even more. Once the 150 Team USA bikes are built in Italy, they will be shipped to dealers around the country without their tail sections. Those pieces will be shipped to California, where Hodgson and Bostrom will sit down for an autograph session with some Ducati bodywork. The tail sections will then be reunited with the bikes, so each Team USA owner will have Hodgson and Bostrom autographs on those white "number plates" on the tail.
With the arrival of the 2006 model, the differences between the 999R and Ducati's competition bikes have almost disappeared. The R features the latest, most advanced Testastretta engine, radically redesigned from the cases up. The result is an engine that delivers 150 HP, the most power of any Ducati production engine and a safe bet for anybody who wants a bike that leaves the competition standing.
The Ducati Monster created an overnight sensation when it was launched over a decade ago. Today, it defines the class more than ever. An essential street fighter, with its fully exposed engine and bodywork, the Monster delivers style and real sport bike performance. For 2006, two new Monsters will been added to the line-up. The Monster 695 is an entry range addition to the Monster family that offers the highest output per cc of any air-cooled Ducati. On the other end, the Monster S4Rs Testastretta will take Monster performance to a new level.

Ducati 1098 Ducati's 1098 is going to be one to watch. It looks trick, has all the ingredients on paper to be a winner, and has huge expectations from almost every bike fan from around the globe. Thisbike might be able totake the Italian company back to the fame and success it once had in the streetbike marketwhen the ground-breaking 916 was first released in 1994.
2006 Ducati 999R Xerox On current Ducati motors, the valves are actuated by a standard valve cam shaft which is rotated by a timing belt driven by the motor directly. The teeth on the belt keep the camshaft drive pulleys indexed. On older Ducati motors, prior to 1981, drive was by solid shaft that transferred to the camshaft through bevel-cut gears. This method of valve actuation was used on many of Ducati's older single cylinder motorcycles - the shaft tube is visible on the outside of the cylinder.
