Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center: Addicts

Someone may enter a drug and alcohol rehab center and have the insecure feeling of being defeated. The individual may have a sign of hope, but looking at the big picture, they can actually wonder what happened for them to end up in such a rut. Motivation can seem impractical, and the addict may not feel he/she has much of a chance. It is recommended to be involved and active in every activity provided at a drug and alcohol rehab program.
Drug addicts will attempt to withhold the fact that they are using drugs from friends and family. He/she will start to withdraw from family and friends. He/she will start to act strangely; will begin to violate one’s own integrity. Then will not take off in his/her life. He/she will be more overwhelmed as this will create more problems. He/she will use more drugs to counter that overwhelming feeling.

Shame, hurt, and embarrassment—these are only some of the emotions that an alcoholic or drug addict may feel deep below the surface drinking or drugging. What are the underlying causes of these emotions that lead to addictive behavior such as alcohol and drug abuse? An addict may know, but may not necessarily admit the pain and suffering that he or she has once experienced or continues to subconsciously experience daily.
If you have an addicted family member, in your family, you are not responsible for their drug and alcohol use. You are not required to save them. If you choose you do not even have to help them. With that said, there are things you can do, if you choose, that can decrease, their drug usage, as well in increase it, just in how you respond and behave with them. It is not only someone with an addiction that can have distorted thought patterns.
