SitcomsOnlline.com has posted in last Thursday's News Blog that The Drew Carey Show will be among a new group of sitcom titles in their "Televsion Favorites" lineup of DVD releases in 2006. These are typically a single-disc release for around $10 SRP with anywhere from 3 to 6 episodes from the show featured on the disc. Blog writer Pavan Badal says that this is "promised", but doesn't indicate that this is a hard announcement just yet. It sounds like he was told by his sources that these releases are meant to test the waters for possible season-set releases later on, and so he (and we) urge you to pick up on this if you're a fan of the show at all. Stay tuned for further developments!

One of America’s most beloved comedians, Drew Carey was a mainstay on ABC for more than a decade, thanks to the success of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and The Drew Carey Show. His lovability and fame ... helped him land the hosting gig on The New Price is Right, where he’ll help remind viewers to spay and neuter their pets.

Previously competing in the 1987 Star Search contest, Drew Carey then took part in HBO’s 14th Annual Young Comedians Special (1991) and moved to Los Angeles. Almost at the same time, he made a first appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” (1991... in 1992) and received the rare honor of accompanying Carson during the whole show, after finishing his comedy performance. The memorable moment apparently brought Carey some offers, including a guest appearance in “The Torkelsons” (1992) and a small part in Coneheads (1993, as a taxi passenger).

If you remember, and really, how could you not, Drew Carey played some FIFA 07 against a bunch of US football stars. For cash (albeit all in the name of charity). End result of Carey's day out was $160,000 donated to the Mooch Myernick Memorial Fund, whose aim is to help out poor city kids by getting them playing the world game. Which is super. More»

"The Drew Carey Show" is ... known for its signature dance sequences. In previous seasons, the show revitalized classic tunes like "Five O'clock World," "Time Warp," and "What Is Hip" by featuring the cast in exciting choreographed routines. The show also blazed new trails with ground-breaking episodes that included an animated scene with Daffy Duck, an alien special effects scene and a tribute to the hit movie, "The Full Monty." Every season promises more original surprises. The frequently dateless Drew develops a promising new romantic relationship. There's also a "new" yet familiar man in Kate's life.
