Dragons: Innings
built 785 days ago
Dragons are the one of the most amazing magical creatures in the world. Dragons are terrifying and awe-inspiring as they take wing and breathe fire. Muggles remember them only as beasts from mythology, which is a credit to the ongoing efforts of the Ministries of Magic in many countries who work tirelessly to keep these huge beasts hidden. Wizards who work with them are called dragon keepers (Charlie Weasley is a dragon keeper in Romania).

Dragons were one of the first intelligent life forms to appear in Azeroth. It's not clear whether the Titans created them or if they somehow evolved prior to the Titans' arrival. At one time their numbers were uncountable, but in present-day Azeroth there are very few left. Originally, there were many different dragonflights, with many different colors to be seen. The five most influential... were the Reds, the Greens, the Bronze, the Blacks, and the Blues, and eventually most of the other flights disappeared.

The official Dungeons & Dragons site has provided for you a new Monster Profile featuring the Kargon. Naturally, this is no ordinary profile. Indeed not, it is taken from a journal excerpt belonging to Trank, Drow Sorceress Extraordinaire. How this knowledge was siphoned from an ancient being and conveniently posted on the internet is the real mystery, but stifle your inquisitiveness momentarily and read all about the Kargon HERE.

Dragons were believed to lay eggs, and the young dragon to remain in its egg for 3,000 years - 1,000 in the water, 1,000 in the mountains, and 1,000 in the land of men. These eggs may occasionally have been snakes' eggs, but more often they were beautiful stones of five colors, which gave off water, or at least moisture, when rain was about. It was unwise to be in possession of one at the moment of birth for it would hatch in the form of a tiny worm or snake and grow within minutes into a full-sized dragon which would whirl up to the sky in a thunderstorm, tearing its way out through the roof.

Dragons were usually seen as a power of evil, and the slaying of a dragon the crowning achievement of heroes. Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur had a vision of a dragon that was considered a mighty omen. Uther began a tradition of using their war like and terrible effigies as standards, carrying them into battle to "strike fear into the hearts of the heathen."
