Based on the manga by Akira Toriyama, Dragonball Z has been a multi platform sensation in books, video games, toys and cartoons. We’ve never been able to make sense of it, but that must mean it’s good! According to the THR piece, it’s generated some $4 billion in worldwide licensing. We’re happy to hear of Chow’s involvement, since he’s one of the finest moviemakers on the planet for this kind of action genre romp.

Dragonball Z is the story of an alien being named Goku who thinks he is the last of his kind. Bestowed with incredible strength, lightening reflexes and a monkey-like tail, he uses his martial arts training to protect his friends and the planet Earth. He and his band of friends seek out seven dragonballs which will release the dragon, Shinron, who will grant any wish.

Dragonball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road, aside from being a mouthful to say, offers a different take on the Dragonball mythos. The story follows what might have happen if Majin Buu was awoken in the Future Trunks Timeline. The end result might actually surprise you. Of course, according to that storyline, most of the other Z fighters had perished and only Gohan and Trunks were left to defend the Earth. Then that would mean that none of the other Z fighters were there, and then the androids would still be there, and 18 would not be on the sides of angels. Of course, I could go on as to why certain things should not be available in the game, but the main idea behind this story is that this is a "what if" scenario, so everyone remove any context of continuity from your mind since this is Another Road.

Dragonball Z can easily be described as a transitional anime. It catches everyone's attention with flashy fight scenes and a hero vs. villain plot, which can actually be enjoyable at times. You can ... credit Dragonball Z with causing an eruption of popularity of anime in America.

Dragonball GT's theme is a blend of Dragonball and Dragonball Z, where humor and fighting are mixed. Dragonball GT mainly focuses on Gokou, who was accidentally wished back into a kid by Pilaf. A negative factor in Dragonball GT is that it lacks emphasis on the other characters; everything is concentrated around Gokou.
