One of the interesting things in Dragon Quest V's game play that makes it slightly more than a beefed-up Dragon Quest IV is the ability to capture monsters after battle. Now, monster capturing does appear in all of the later Dragon Quest games, but it plays a much larger role in this installment, since for most of the game at least one of your two companions in battle will be a monster you captured. It adds a little depth to your battle strategy because anywhere that your carriage is accessible, you can hot-swap monsters in and out of the fight. This becomes necessary because monsters all have strengths and weaknesses that can either help or hinder you. And you have to choose wisely whom you take into dungeons and towers since you can't usually hot-swap once you're inside. You're stuck with whom you take, so choose wisely.

Earlier today Red Slimes went on a protest march after finding out that Dragon Quest VIII will not have Red King Slimes, or Red Kings for short. At several cities, such as Aliahan, the Red Slimes slithered and bounced in what they called a march for monster rights.

In Dragon Quest V übernimmt der Spieler die Rolle eines Helden. Das besondere an Teil V ist, das der Spieler von Geburt an dem Weg seines Charakters verfolgt und zum Teil auch Einfluss auf den weiteren Verlauf des Abenteuers hat. Dem Spieler ist nur bekannt, dass der Held als Baby mit seinem Vater umhergereist ist und etwas gesucht hat. Als der Held im Alter von sechs Jahren in sein Heimatdorf zurückkehrt, erfährt der Spieler, dass Prinz Henry entführt wurde. Der Vater des Helden beschließt ihn zu retten.

The Dragon Quest VII Cast of Characters: An unnamed hero is an ordinary boy living in a fishing village known as Fishbel. He is friends with the Fishbel boat owner's daughter, Maribel and the Prince of Estard, Kiefer. Later on the game, you will meet a swordfighter named Aira, Marvin, a mythical hero, and a boy named Gabo.

In volume 81 of Nintendo Power, the staff wrote an article on Dragon Quest VI, hoping the game would find a U.S. release. They ... suggested why the series does not appeal to the American audience: there is too much fighting and not enough adventuring.[4] The game has not been released outside of Japan.
