One of the more faithful retellings of Dracula originally shown on British television and later cut into three segments for viewing in the United States. The story follows Jonathan Harker’s trip to Transylvania and his encounter with the thoroughly continental Dracula (portrayed by Louis Jourdan). Dracula comes to London to take Lucy but is opposed by Drs. Seward and Van Helsing. Lucy’s death convinces the men, including Texan Quincey P. Morris that Dracula is a vampire. Their counter attack leads to Castle Dracula where Van Helsing has the honor of finally killing Dracula with a stake.

Dracula's original castle lies in ruins. The person who Count Draculs was based on was a Prince named Vlad III. Vlad III was born in Sighisoara in 1431. In the 15th century, Romania was made up of a number of small states, each with an independent ruler.

The mocking of Dracula, the text, is not only performed by Buffy. Dracula is woven into the fabric of the episode through specific allusions to the original novel –allusions that require audience recognition (either of the ‘quotes’ as they appear in the original novel, but perhaps ... of their re-appearance in various re-articulations and re-inventions of the myth) in order to be fully effective. The aforementioned ‘costuming’ of Buffy’s characters are just one example of this. The storm at the start of the episode, the castle, the ‘special dirt’, Dracula’s transformation into a bat, a wolf, and a grey mist –all mirror the narrative events of Stoker’s novel.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula opens with a scene from the end of Vlad’s rulership when the Turkish army is overrunning his land. Coppola drew on the legend of Vlad’s wife committing suicide. Angered at her inability (according to Eastern Orthodox Christian thought) to join him in heavenly bliss, he curses God and becomes a vampire. Following the introductory scene, the movie continues with Jonathan Harker's trip to Castle Dracula to complete the sale of properties in London to Dracula. While Harker is left to Dracula's women, the audience is introduced to the rest of the cast of characters in London, including Lucy and Mina, and Lucy’s three suitors, Arthur Holmwood, Dr. John Seward, and Quincey Morris. After Dracula arrives and attacks Lucy, Seward calls in his old friend Dr. Abraham Van Helsing.

In The first Castlevania game in 1986 Dracula turns into a large bat-like creature, in 1992 he does this again, in Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola. These may have inspired the forms he takes in Van Helsing, Blade: Trinity, and many of the later Castlevania games.

Dracula flees back to his castle in Transylvania, followed by Van Helsing's group, who manage to track him down just before sundown and destroy[7] him by shearing "through the throat" and stabbing him in the heart with a Bowie knife. Dracula crumbles to dust, his spell is lifted and Mina is freed from the marks. Quincey Morris is killed in the final battle, stabbed by Gypsies who had been charged with returning Dracula to his castle; the survivors return to England.
