Downloading: Kbps Internet
built 632 days ago
Downloading difficulty can arise from a poor connection to the Internet. Note that your computer can indicate you have a high connection speed, and yet still have a poor connection. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting. It is ... possible the Internet is experiencing a high level of congestion at the particular time you try to download. Your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) might also be experiencing a high load on its servers. In either case, simply try the download at a different time of day.
MusicNet is the world's first legal, major label digital distribution platform for streaming and downloading music. It combines RealNetworks' industry-leading Internet media delivery technology with the music catalogs of the three major record labels -- Warner Music Group, Bertelsmann AG, and EMI Recorded Music. As both a technology provider and a music clearinghouse, MusicNet will license its ``private-label'' platform to companies seeking to sell music subscription services under their own brands. RealNetworks and Warner Music Group formed MusicNet in the spring of 2000 as a subsidiary, and RealNetworks incubated it from its inception. MusicNet was officially announced as a joint venture between RealNetworks, AOL Time Warner, Bertelsmann AG, and EMI Recorded Music in April of 2001. MusicNet's corporate information is located on the Internet at http://www.musicnet.com .

Industry analysts predict that by 2003, digital downloading will add more than $1 billion to the US music industry. Already, MP3 has surpassed 'sex' as the most popular search term on the Net. Established and emerging artists are rapidly making their music available online. Millions of Americans -- especially music fans under 25 -- already use the Web as their primary source of music. Many others, though intrigued, have no idea how to use all the fun features of digital music. Myplay is for them: an easy-to-use service that takes the headaches out of downloading and enjoying music via the Internet.
Microsoft has announced the results of a new survey which found teenagers between seventh and tenth grades are less likely to illegally download content from the Internet when they know the laws for downloading and sharing content online. About half of those teens... said they were not familiar with these laws, and only eleven percent of them clearly understood the current rules for downloading images, literature, music, movies and software. Teens who were familiar with downloading rules credited their parents, T-V or stories in magazines and newspapers, and Web sites -- more so than their schools -- as resources for information about illegal downloading.

To conserve disk space and reduce downloading time, some of the larger files on the TCEQ Web site are posted in a compressed format. Before a compressed file can be used, it must be decompressed. Many different compression formats are used on the Internet, including variations for the DOS/Windows, Mac and UNIX operating systems. The TCEQ Web site employs the widely-used DOS/Windows format known as ZIP. Zipped files can be recognized by their filename extensions of .ZIP or .EXE
