MSN Messenger 7.5 adds interoperability with users of Vodafone Messenger in Europe - a service provided by the mobile phone company that enables subscribers to talk between a handset and PC. In June, Vodafone and MSN first introduced interoperability through Vodafone's own product.

[O]f all, MSN Messenger doesn't even inform you that it has ceased to work because you need to update. This was the first frustratng hurdle, minor though it may be.

MSN Messenger contains an advertising bar as standard; some other IM programs (Pidgin, Trillian etc) do not. Although this is ... reverse-engineered and deleted with a patch, critics consider the interface cluttered, with no options to edit it in an unmodified version.
