Dora Bryan Dora Bryan is one of Britain's best-loved character actors, with a career spanning sixty years in film, television and theatre. Her performance as Helen in the landmark British film A Taste of Honey earned her a British Academy Award in 1961. Dora's many stage successes include Hello, Dolly!, She Stoops to Conquer (Variety Club of Great Britain's Best Actress of the Year Award), and the National Theatre's production of Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party for which she won an Olivier Award in 1995. She ... appeared with Peter O'Toole in a Broadway revival of Pygmalion. Dora currently plays Roz in the BBC's long running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine.

Born in Parbold Lancashire and brought up in Oldham, Dora Bryan began what was to become a long and illustrious career as a babe in pantomime at Manchester's Palace Theatre. At the age of ten she received her first favourable review: - "A dancer with personality: a real comedienne." Since then she has hardly ever stopped working and, over seventy years later, her talents are as much in demand as ever.

In 1971, Dora appeared in the West End production of the Kander and Ebb musical 70, Girls, 70. She then took a break from acting to raise children, although she made a public service TV advertisement for children`s safety during this period. Since the early 1980s she has once again been very active. In 2004 she joined the cast of the long-running BBC comedy series Last of the Summer Wine as Aunt Roz. Her most recent film appearance was in MirrorMask in 2005.
