Doors Down

One of the most successful rock bands to have emerged in recent years, 3 Doors Down is considered a phenomenon within the music industry. Often called 3DD, this five-piece outfit came out of small-town Mississippi to become a record-breaking act whose two albums and handful of singles have sold in the millions. The band became the first debut act in the history of the record charts to hit number one concurrently in Modern Rock, Active Rock, Album Rock, and Heritage Rock radio formats. 3DD accomplished this feat with its single "Kryptonite," a track that uses Superman imagery to explore the question of what would happen to someone who, after having been placed on a pedestal, does something to damage his or her image. The group is lauded for bringing melody, hooks, wholesomeness, and a straightforward approach back to rock 'n' roll which, at the time that the group put out its first CD in early 2000, often was considered to be in its dying stages or to have been co-opted by genres such as rap/rock, punk, and heavy metal.

After selling 12 million albums since their debut in 2000, 3 Doors Down are releasing their third studio album entitled Seventeen Days (Republic/Universal) on February 8, 2005. The album, recorded at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by Johnny K (Finger 11, Disturbed) features twelve original songs including the road weary ballad "Landing In London" which features Bob Seeger.
The extremely successful rock band from the US, 3 Doors Down have had six #1 singles and has sold over 12 million copies of their albums. 3 Doors Down performs on average at least 300 sold-out live shows a year. According to Billboard Magazine their song 'Kryptonite' was the first debut single ever to reach #1 on four different radio formats at the same time.
Background: 3 Doors Down sparked some hope for the musically desolate town of Escatawpa, Mississippi back in 2000, when the band's powerful rock anthem "Kryptonite" invaded the airwaves. Childhood friends Brad Arnold (vocals/drums), Matt Roberts (guitar), and Todd Harrell (bass) started out playing at friends' parties, where they would perform Bush and Metallica covers, but began to stretch their limits in 1997 with the addition of another guitarist, Chris Henderson. After recording some demos that same year, the quartet attracted a huge local following, with a crowd of nearly 2,000 attending their hometown gigs as a result of diligent self-promotion and energetic live performances. Their local popularity led to unprecedented demand for their soon-to-be national hit "Kryptonite" at Biloxi's local radio station, WCPR. Following the buzz, the band went to New York's legendary rock club CBGB to hold a showcase for major record labels, and they ended up signing a deal with Republic/Universal.
