Donkey: Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong - Cabinet Image A modern version of Donkey Kong was made called Donkey Kong 94 for Super Game Boy. This version begins exactly the same as the original with the same four stages (with updated graphics and play mechanics). But when you finish these levels, instead of repeating them over, the player is taken to 96 more levels, each with tons of puzzles to solve.

Trivia: Donkey Kong was the product of a Nintendo artist named Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto did the entire game himself (even the music), the only help he got was with the name. He and a manager decided they'd call it "Donkey Kong" because "kong" would imply a gorilla was involved, and "donkey" was used because their Japanese-to-English dictionary said it meant "stubborn, wily, and goofy."

Donkey Kong - Cabinet Image The first version of Donkey Kong that was released in America (red cabinet version) had a trick that could be done on the barrell board. Move Mario up a ladder (so that his hands are at the top of the ladder) and the barrells will not come down on Mario. Only a barrell thrown from Donkey Kong or a fireball can get Mario when doing this. The best way to tell if your Donkey Kong machine has this older version of the software is to watch the title screen during the demo. Underneath the name, and Donkey Kong himself, you will see the copyright of Nintendo. If it reads: "1981 Nintendo" you have the older version (the regular version of the program reads "1981 Nintendo of America").

Kong's question for the kiddies. Donkey Kong and Mario turned into ruthless head-hunters, terrorizing the Mushroom Kingdom. Upon beheading another copy of the 82,137,126,387 toads, DK munches on the frontal lobe its brain. DK was then magically filled with joy and random urges to rape. After having Mario snack on a couple of the delicious toads, they both start a serial raping spree that last 10 years. This ends in the sad death of Mario's brother Luigi (who Mario mistaked as a toad while he was dressing up with a turban).
The first game of Donkey Kong was released in 1981. Donkey Kong was a large, muscular, brown gorilla who appeared in the jungle. In 1994 there was a remake of the game and they put a red necktie (with a DK emblem on it) on Donkey Kong.Shigeru Miyamoto was the creator of the game and he named it because he related it to donkey because he thought of a donkey as stupid, so he thought of “Stupid Ape” and named his character as Donkey Kong. Other characters in the game was the Mario and Pauline (a heroine). The object of the Donkey Kong game is to for Mario to reach Donkey Kong where he is holding Pauline as a captive. In order to do this Mario has to avoid the barrels and other objects that Kong is throwing at him.
When Donkey Kong became popular, Atari sought to buy the home rights to the game. But at that time, Coleco bid for the rights as well when trying to snag a killer launch title for their soon to be released ColecoVision. Coleco got the home cartridge rights while Atari ended up with the computer diskette rights. This arrangement worked out well until it backfired at the 1983 CES show, where Coleco presented their enhanced version of Donkey Kong for the Coleco ADAM computer. Atari, upset over the apparent breach of contract, ordered Nintendo to make Coleco shut down the display.
