In response to Nikolas Kozloff story on Dominica, there is no story here. In many parts of his damning article you can place the word Canada and you have a potential McCain invasion. How much good would he do attempting to scare or warn the Canadian government of an impending McCain invasion?

Dominica's economy grew by 3.5% in 2005 and 4.0% in 2006, following a decade of poor performance. The country nearly had a financial crisis in 2003 and 2004. Growth in 2006 was attributed to gains in tourism, construction, offshore and other services, and some sub-sectors of the banana industry. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently praised the Government of Dominica for its successful macroeconomic reforms. The IMF ... pointed out remaining challenges, including further reductions in public debt, increased financial sector regulation, and market diversification.

Following a request from Dominica, the IMF agreed in August 2002 to provide a US$4.3 million stand-by loan. The adjustment programme agreed between the IMF and Dominica is ambitious and requires the fiscal deficit to be reduced by nearly half to 5% of GDP. To do this the government needs to sharply increase its revenue whilst reducing government expenditure.

ROSEAU, Dominica: .Members of Parliament in Dominica will be given the opportunity to discuss proposals on local government reform at a meeting to be held here on Monday. Over the last year a consultancy firm from Jamaica has been working closely with the Department of Local Government.
