Rumors are surfacing that Dominic Monaghan is about to propose to his girlfriend Evangeline Lilly, after he was seen shopping for rings in Beverly Hills, California. During time away from the filming of Lost, Dominic was seen looking at diamond eternity bands at a number of upscale jewellers on Rodeo Drive.

An attractive performer, Dominic Monaghan broke out of being typecast in teen roles when he landed the role of Hobbit Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck in Peter Jackson's tripartite feature adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkein classic "The Lord of the Rings" (2001-03). Born in Germany to a nurse and a teacher, the diminutive brown-haired, blue-eyed actor spent his formative years in Berlin. When he was 12 years old, he relocated to Manchester, England with his family and following his completion of secondary school, began acting in local youth theater. Shortly thereafter, Monaghan was tapped to play Geoffrey Shawcross, the teenage sidekick to a sixtysomething housewife-turned-detective in the BBC series "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" (1996-98). He went on to play a Russian sailor in the fact-based HBO drama "Hostile Waters" (1997) and a young Frenchman in the four-part British miniseries "Monsignor Renaud" (1999).

Lost star Dominic Monaghan is beginning to wonder if there IS life after Evangeline Lilly. Last Friday Dominic was in the very hot crowd who went to see The Ting Tings at The Roxy. Since he and his girlfriend Evangeline are history, Dominic was with a buddy and ON THE PROWL. A witness said "He tried to pick up every pretty girl in sight. Time after time he offered to buy girls drinks and they turned him down. He invited girls to join him at his table and they weren't interested.

His other television credits include "This is Personal -The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper," and a leading role in "Monsignoir Renard," a new series starring John Thaw. Monaghan's film debut was in Boomber with Rutger Hauer and Martin Shaw. Before becoming an actor, Monaghan studied English Literature, Drama and Geography at Sixth Form College. When auditioning for Lost, Monaghan originally went in for the role of Sawyer, but impressed the producers so much that they re-wrote the character of Charlie Pace from a middle aged rock star who had faded from the limelight to a twenty-something guitarist looking to relive recent glory.
