Candlepins for Dollars is a new, exciting television program that was originally filmed and aired by Boston's CW. The showis filmed in front of a live audience at Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill, MA. In its second season, Candlepins for Dollarswill air across New England ona major television network, to be announced soon. It features some of the best candlepin bowlers from across New England in a competitive game for big cash prizes! Candlepins for Dollars is hosted and commentated by NHWZID Radio's Mike Morin, former color commentator for WNDS "Candlepin Stars and Strikes" and the former WLVI Boston's WB/CW News anchor Frank Mallicoat. The duo teams up to add color, flair, and excitement to the program with a New England tradition. Stay tuned to find out how YOU can view a live taping, or even how to qualify for the show! About Us The common element in all Dollars for Scholars chapters is community-based fundraising for scholarships awarded to local students. Beyond these scholarships, a growing number of Indiana Dollars for Scholars chapters now offer a variety of academic support programs connecting students and parents with resources in the community-from mentoring and tutoring programs to finding financial aid to securing grants and loans.
The Dollars for Scholars program empowers communities and groups to help themselves by helping to educate their young people. In addition to analyzing the mammoth increase in federal contract spending, Dollars, Not Sense provides the first government-wide estimate of the number and value of “problem contracts” under the Bush Administration. The report is accompanied by a searchable database of problem contracts.
Dollars and $ense is reported, edited and designed by students, with extensive involvement by faculty editorial and design advisors. The result is a highly educational experience for students and the publication of one of the nation's best student publications. Recent issues have won Gold and Silver Crown Awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and have been honored by he Society of Professional Journalists.
