Leader Dogs for the Blind is a non-profit organization that has been providing independent travel to the blind community through the use of Leader Dogs for 69 years. Since its founding in 1939, Leader Dogs for the Blind has provided independent mobility to more than 14,000 visually impaired individuals. The services of the school are provided free of charge; although, the cost to the school is nearly $38,000 for each student/dog team. ROCHESTER, Mich., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Leader Dogs for the Blind Board of Trustees has selected Gregory Grabowski to lead the organization as its President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 2, 2008. Grabowski will succeed William Hansen who announced his intention to retire last July, after nearly 20 years of service as president and CEO. "After a thorough, national search, we are pleased to see Greg at the helm of Leader Dogs for the Blind. He is an experienced, talented leader who has a true passion for enhancing lives and the vision it takes to get there," said Chairman of the Board, Chuck Schmidt. Most recently, Grabowski was the vice president of development at the National Hospice Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia. Prior to that, he was the vice president of communications and development at Hospice of Michigan in Detroit.
