The 2008 Dodge Sprinter is a car with two valuable e's - effectiveness and elegance. The statement will be clearer if you go through the engine specification first. The 2008 Dodge Sprinter is equipped with 2.7 liters in-line 5 front engine capable of delivering 154 horsepower at 3800 rpm and 243 ft lb of torque at 1,600 rpm.

The Freightliner Sprinter and Dodge Sprinter are the same thing. You can get a passenger version to hold 10 people, a cargo version, and a cab chassis version, which is pretty much a truck.

Based on Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle technology, The Dodge Sprinter PHEV has the ability to drive up to 20 miles on electric only power. It accomplishes this with a switch on the dashboard giving the operator the ability to manually switch between modes as needed or automatically by the vehicle control system. Two different combustion engines are being mated to the PHEV system, a five cylinder diesel and a V6 gasoline. The diesel version will yield the highest fuel economy benefit and is the first fleet test of a diesel plug-in hybrid system.

The 2007 Dodge Sprinter has been completely redesigned. There are larger body styles available, including a new "mega" roof with a class-leading 7-foot interior height measurement and 600 cubic feet of cargo space. The standard turbodiesel is now a V6 and has been upgraded to 280 pound-feet of torque, while an optional 3.5-liter gasoline V6 has been added for those looking for more highway-friendly power. The exterior has undergone evolutionary changes, but the interior has been brought into this decade with new Mercedes-Benz switchgear and a tilt/telescoping steering column.

All Dodge Sprinter vans are powered by a 2.7-liter, five-cylinder turbodiesel engine rated for 154 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy comes in around 27 mpg, easily surpassing the mileage of any other full-size van. Such generous fuel economy numbers can quickly translate into vast savings for families and business owners. Unfortunately, the engine's small displacement and output prevents the Sprinter from measuring up in one all-important area: towing and hauling ability. Dodge's van has a maximum towing capacity of just 5,000 pounds, while V8-powered competitors like the Chevrolet Express and Ford Econoline can tow anywhere between 6,000 and 10,000 pounds.

"The Dodge Sprinter plug-in hybrids will be placed in multiple locations within the United States," Wright added. "The technology will be exposed to different drive cycles yielding information to develop the next generation of Lithium-ion batteries."
