Dodge Magnum The 1978 and 1979 Dodge Magnum in the United States and Canada was an addition to the Chrysler line up that allowed Richard Petty to continue racing with a Mopar. The Magnum replaced the Charger SE in Dodge's lineup in two forms; the "XE" and the "GT". It was the last vehicle to use the long running Chrysler B platform. The appearance was somewhat of a rounded off Charger, and was in response to getting a car that would be eligible for NASCAR that would be more aerodynamic, something the Charger was not. Styling features included four rectangular headlights behind retractable clear covers, with narrow opera windows, and an optional T-bar or power sunroof. The Magnum was well-featured with power steering, brakes and seats; the suspension included Chrysler's standard adjustable, longitudinal torsion bars, lower trailing links, and front and rear anti-sway bars.
The Dodge Magnum is a full-size American station wagon with spacious cargo capacity. It’s engineered for safety. And all-wheel drive is available for all-weather capability. But what makes the Magnum special is its hot rod styling and rumbling engines. There’s nothing else quite like it.
Custom Dodge Magnum Although the new Dodge Magnum is not as spacious as midsize SUVs and has a limit on its cargo space due to its shape, these are quite overcome by its nice 3.5 liter, V6 engines and its Hemi V8s. Also, it has the quiet, composed ride that drivers love and it ... is surprisingly agile for its class. Options for this vehicle include a power moonroof, heated seats, front- and rear-seat side curtains airbags, power seats with leather, and power-adjustable pedals.

Equipped with a 190-horsepower double-overhead-cam V6 engine that offers a mileage of 21-30 miles per gallon, the 2005 Dodge Magnum comes with even enough space for cargo. The engine shuts down four of its eight cylinders when the car is on a highway. This can improve the mileage by a substantial extent. The 2005 Dodge Magnum is available in three trims - SE, SXT, and RT. While the SE trim comes with a 2.7L 24-valve V6 engine with 190hp, the SXT is equipped with 3.5L High-Output 24-valve V6 engine with 250hp. The high-end RT trim comes with a 5.7L HEMI® Multi-Displacement V8 engine with 340hp.
The Dodge Magnum, as a name, has previously been used on quite a number of various Dodge automobiles. The new Magnum is the first car under the Dodge name to use the new Chrysler LX platform that it shares with the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger. As per last 2004, the Dodge Magnum was revived as a station wagon. It has been made available with three engine options. The SE has the 190 hp, 2.7 liter LH V6. The SXT owns the 270 hp, 3.5 liter V6.

In Brazil, the Dodge Magnum nameplate was used from 1979 to 1981 to name a Brazilian version of the Plymouth Valiant/Dodge Dart. In Mexico, the name was used from 1983 until 1990 but was used instead to name a K car.
