It does more on the performance. You should get to experience these imposing trucks to experience only the best of Dakota’s fully boxed, hydro-formed frame that provides the stiffness, strength, and durability to handle even the largest and longest cargo. All Dodge Dakota vehicles will never fail you for your expectations of what should a truck would serve you. Bring it to any functions, whether a social-event graces or haul it to any of your off-road activities. You wouldn’t miss any of these exciting and thrilling actions.
Dodge Dakota In addition to its just-right size, the Dodge Dakota has always had an edge in on-road dynamics. When it first arrived on the market, compact trucks were typically tough and durable enough for off-road use, but most were ill-mannered on pavement. In contrast, the Dakota rode smoothly and handled predictably on the road, yet was still hardy enough for off-highway work. These traits have carried through to the present day. Dodge was ... the first manufacturer to put a V8 in a small pickup, and indeed there have been some powerful Dakotas over the years. However, the leading import brands are now getting as much or more performance out of their more fuel-efficient V6s, which has left the current-generation Dakota at a competitive disadvantage.

2005 Dodge Dakota For what started life years ago as a mid-size pickup meant to parry the emerging threat of compact trucks from Nissan and Toyota , the Dodge Dakota has matured well past its original charter. Although nominally the little brother of the humongous Dodge Ram, the 2005 Dakota has grown up to become huge in its own right. Its job skills, in the form of hauling and towing capacities, now rival those of many full-size trucks dating to only a few years ago. Indeed, the Dakota is now the only mid-size pickup available with a V-8 - make that two different V-8s. There's more besides: the Dakota is now the only V-8-powered vehicle of any kind available for under $20,000. This fact changes everything in the competitive and often complicated category of pint-size pickups.
Now with two V-8 offerings, Dodge Dakota dominates the mid-size segment in power and torque. With a powerful standard 3.7-liter Magnum V-6 rated at 210 horsepower and 235 lb.-ft. of torque, the new Dodge Dakota offers a six-percent improvement in fuel efficiency and improved power over the 3.9-liter Magnum V-6. The 4.7-liter V-8 Magnum is rated at 230 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 290 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm, while the new 4.7-liter High Output Magnum V-8 further eclipses the competition in both power and torque with 250-plus horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. plus of torque.
