The Dodge Charger, in its current incarnation, is a rear-wheel drive full-size automobile built by the Chrysler Group for its North American Dodge brand. The Charger name is a historical one, borne by many other Dodge Charger models in the past. Introduced in February 2005 for the 2006 model year, this new Charger shares the LX platform of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum, which borrows component parts from the Mercedes E-Class platform[1]; in fact, the interior of the Charger is almost identical to that of the Magnum. It replaced the Dodge Intrepid as Dodge's full-size sedan. This Charger is a family four-door sedan, disappointing many fans of the previous two-door Chargers. The 1966 Dodge Charger was introduced on New Year’s Day, and it didn’t take long for the 1967 model to replace it, with few changes. The 318 lost 55 pounds of weight without any disadvantage; the 361 was replaced by a mild two-barrel 383; and the 440 Magnum became available with 375 hp. Trim was upgraded, with new chrome and fender-mounted turn signals, as well as a new center section in front and optional split seats. The Charger had all the Coronet 500 luxury features, and both years had fold-flat rear seats, for 7 feet of cargo area, as well as a tachometer and full instrumentation. More serious options included a heavy duty suspension with stabilizer bar, towing package, and big 11 inch front disc brakes. This generation weighed about 3,600 pounds and rode a 117 inch wheelbase, with a 75 inch width, 204 inch length, and 54 inch height; it took 41 feet to turn around.

The 2007 Dodge Charger has three engine options. The 2.7-liter V6 produces 190 hp and 190 pound-feet of torque and comes with a four-speed automatic transmission. The upgraded 3.5-liter V6 is good for 250 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The 5.7-liter V8 delivers 340 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, and delivers a 0-60-mph time of approximately 6 seconds. The champion in both of only two Dodge Charger races held became Greg Biffle on Ford car in 2005 and 2006. The full name of the racer is Gregory Jack Biffle, and he was born on December 23, 1969 in Vancouver, Washington. Biffle is nicknamed the Biff by the fans for his recent successes in the races. Greg Biffle became popular nationally, while driving in the NASCAR Winter Heat series on ESPN2 in 1995 and 1996. The racer is a regular participant of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, NASCAR Busch Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Biffle?s other win in the Nextel Cup 2006 is connected with the victory at the Ford 400 race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
