Dodge Charger: Charger Se
built 656 days ago
The Dodge Charger is a full-size, four-door sedan that makes a bold design statement and backs it up with serious horsepower. The Charger SRT8 boasts a 425-hp 6.1-liter high performance Hemi V8. And that's pretty serious.

The 2007 Dodge Charger large sedan comes in three main trim levels: SE (base), R/T and SRT8. The SE rear-wheel-drive model comes standard with 17-inch steel wheels, cloth seats, a CD player with an auxiliary input jack, a tilt and telescoping steering column and full power accessories. It's ... available with several optional features. Most notable is the SXT package that offers a more powerful V6 engine, alloy wheels, a power driver seat, a 60/40-split rear seat and a Boston Acoustics audio system. Other options for the SE or SXT include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, upgraded audio systems, a navigation system and a sunroof.

The 1969 Dodge Charger presented perhaps the widest array of choices in the history of the nameplate. There was a base model, an available SE (for "Special Edition") option that heaped on more luxuries, a hot-performing R/T version, and two wild race-bred iterations: the 500 and the Daytona. Engine selections started with Chrysler's trusty 225-cid Slant Six, but ... included five V-8s, topped by the rollicking 425-horsepower 426-cid "Street Hemi." Depending on the model, available transmissions were three- and four-speed manuals, plus the excellent three-speed TorqueFlite automatic.
Greg Biffle finally snapped the streak of bad luck plaguing his season Nextel NASCAR Cup Series, holding off a late charge from Jeff Gordon to win the Dodge Charger 500. It was the first win of the season for Biffle, who had been unable to catch a single break all year. He led the most laps in three other races, only to see his shot at a win evaporate because of a wide-ranging batch of mishaps.
The Charger name is a historical one, borne by many other Dodge Charger models in the past; they have generally been performance models. Introduced in the 2006 model year, this new Charger shares the LX platform of the Dodge Magnum. The base engine (for the Charger SE and SXT) is 3.5 L V6 which produces 250 hp and 250 ft·lbf of torque. The Hemi R/T version uses the 5.7 L Hemi V8, This engine produces 340 hp and 390 ft·lbf of torque.
Dodge Charger The Dodge Charger's heritage runs deep. First introduced as a 1966 model, this Coronet-based coupe had a unique look, with a sweeping fastback and concealed headlights. But it's the second generation of the Charger that was most popular. This was the one that served as the basis for the winged and race-wining Charger Daytona of 1969 and, later, the bright orange "General Lee" from the 1980s television show, The Dukes of Hazzard.
