Not to be out done, the Dodge boys went back to the wind tunnel and came up with what many consider to be the ultimate Charger, the Charger Daytona. Starting with the Charger 500's basic modifications, they replaced the flush grille with a pointed nose cone and added a 2 foot tall wing on the back! The wind-tunnel homework paid off, as the Charger Daytona was the first production car (in NASCAR trim) to break 200 MPH. Due to its late-season introduction and driver boycotts, the Daytona's racing success was not as great as it could have been. Sales for 1969 continued to be strong, with a total of 69,142 Chargers and 20,057 Charger R/T's (including 392 500's and 503 Daytonas) sold.

2007 Dodge Charger 4dr RWD Sedan Dodge revived a grand old name from its performance-car past when it launched the Charger for 2006. In its modern rendition, the Charger is a sedan and not a coupe. Powertrain choices include a V-6 and a Hemi V-8, and a high-performance SRT8 model is available. All-wheel-drive versions of the Charger debut for 2007, and the optional Road/Track Performance Group package gains new features, including 20-inch chrome wheels.

With it’s aggressive styling and excellent straight line power, the 2006 Dodge Charger brings back the ghosts of the muscle car era. Yet it combines this performance and fast-back styling with the comfort and ease of use found in a 4-door sedan. This car is the perfect ride whether you are idling past white sand beaches or driving the challenging Road to Hana and it is available for your use through Thrifty and Dollar in 2006!
Meantime, Dodge says the Charger SRT8 will offer a special cosmetic option reviving the "Super Bee" name from the muscle-car 1960s. The exterior wears "Detonator Yellow" paint set off by black patches on hood and rear deck and large Super Bee logos in the original style. Yellow stitching adorns seats, steering wheel and shift knob.
In 1966, Dodge put a full out effort into the Charger. They took the Coronet model and added a fastback roofline and reworked the front grill for an updated, sleeker look. This Charger came standard with a 318 V-8 and produced 230 horsepower. The Hemi engine was introduced mid-year but sold poorly (making these very collectable now). The Charger dominated NASCAR racing winning the manufacturer’s championship. Despite the good looks, high performance and success on the track, sales were very disappointing with only 468 cars sold with the 426 Hemi option.
