Five different types of Dodge Charger models are available - SE, SXT, R/T, Daytona R/T and SRT8. The SE and SXT model are fitted with a 250 Hp 3.5 liter EGJ V6 engine while the R/T and Daytona R/T sport a 340 Hp 5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine. The SRT8 model is equipped with 425 Hp 6.1 liter Hemi V8 engine. The difference in these models is in the engine size only. Rest all features like 5 speed automatic suspension, multi stage air bags and self sealing tires are common to all Charger car models. But SRT8, the fastest of the Charger family, is a performance car having better suspension and brakes with updating in exterior and interior features.

The power plant was a Hi-Po 273 with a two-barrel carburetor that produced 180 horsepower. The cars raised enough interest to make Dodge explore further.

Designed by Carl "CAM'" Cameron, the 1966 Dodge Charger would soon prove to be Dodge’s first big foray into the muscle car market. The 1966 Charger, introduced on January 1, 1966, soon earned the reputation of becoming the ‘Leader of the Dodge Rebellion’.With a high performance engine and an attractive outer frame, the 1966 Dodge Charger stormed the muscle car market and remained on the top for a long time. Among its distinctive features was the ‘electric shaver’ grille and fully rotating headlights. With a powerful V8 engine, the 1966 Charger ... came equipped with four bucket seats, forward folded console pad, trunk divider dropper back and a spacious cargo hold.
2006 Dodge Charger Dodge is revving up an all-new Charger for next spring, the latest in a series of high-profile revivals from Detroit, following the return of the Pontiac GTO and the new-is-old, retro-styled Mustang. The Charger, which was shown in concept form at last January's Detroit Auto Show, aims to capture the hearts of Baby Boomers and younger drivers alike who relish a return to the era of the muscle car. And though a relatively tame version of the '06 Charger will be offered with a 3.5-liter V-6, the emphasis will be on performance. Expect Chrysler to focus its marketing campaign on the 5.7-liter HEMI-powered version. And well-placed sources hint that the even more beefy 6.1-liter, 400-horsepower HEMI is a "natural" to follow, though probably not immediately after the car's spring '05 launch.
