1. Documentary Filmmaking
   Documentary Filmmaking for the Digital Age is a filmmaker's story--a look at how the author, with no formal training taught himself to make an independent documentary film that appealed to a wide audience. Instead of spending countless hours in the classroom and wasting energy on film school politics, Michael Wranovics undertook the ultimate educational experience: he went out and made a film that works. More than a simple narrative and anecdotal look at the making of Up for Grabs (a documentary about the legal battle over rightful ownership of Barry Bonds's 73rd home run ball), it discusses the technical and theoretical aspects of making documentary films. Through instructional words and images, it demystifies the filmmaking process and equips readers with the tools they need to make their own magnum opus. Using his own personal stories, the author imparts lessons in an engaging tone, making documentary filmmaking accessible to the average reader.
2. Frontline -- Documentaries
   If you're looking for a program that will inform you on complicated topics by presenting testimony, and not processed narration, then Frontline is the program to watch. Not all of its documentary reports will appeal to everyone, but rest assured each one is as thurough as possible at the time it airs.
3. The Game -- Documentary
   The Documentary, (Aftermath/G Unit/Interscope), the debut album from The Game (a/k/a Jayceon Taylor), announces the arrival of the most significant West Coast gangsta rapper since Snoop Dogg more than a decade earlier. With guest spots from 50 Cent, Nate Dogg and several others, as well as producers from Dr. Dre to Kanye West to Just Blaze and tracks such as "Like Father Like Son," "Church For Thugs," "Dreams," "Where I'm From" and "Westside Story," The Documentary resurrects the truth, spirit and hope of hardcore rap.
4. Documentary Hypothesis
   Other writers, whether accepting or rejecting the Documentary Hypothesis, point out that there is no disagreement here since Abel could have performed animal sacrifices, though he himself ate no flesh. Very often it's been held that one of the main points of this account is that God requires blood for expiation of sins. However, there is no reference in the account of Cain and Abel that the purpose of the offerings was to expiate sin. More importantly, there's no reference to Abel offering blood; just a seeming reference to "fat". If a major point in this account is the importance of blood for the forgiveness of sins, wouldn't it make more sense that the blood would be mentioned instead of the fat?
5. Documentary Hypothesis -- Texts
   In assessing the criteria for the documentary hypothesis, Whybray comments that the principles applied by the documentary critics are not from the texts themselves. Rather, “they are modern principles derived from modern literature and imposed on the text” (p. 55). He then goes into great detail (too much to describe here) to demonstrate this critique and bit by bit dismantle the documentary hypothesis.
6. Documentary Filmmaking -- Filmmakers
   The new Documentary Center will continue to operate the Institute for Documentary Filmmaking offering top-level instruction and unrivaled documentary resources within the Washing metropolitan area (PBS, National Geographic, Discovery, etc.). Drawing instructors from some of the finest documentary filmmakers including Ric Burns, Academy Award winners Paul Wagner and Charles Guggenheim, and Los Angeles based producer Mel Stuart, the Institute teaches all facets of documentary film production and hosts a premier internship program.
7. Leni Riefenstahl -- Documentaries
   After appearing in several films, Riefenstahl turned to directing—remarkable for a field so dominated by men, then as now. An admirer by the name of Adolf Hitler asked her to film a documentary of his Nazi party's rally in Nuremberg, and the rest is indeed history.
8. Dream Street -- Documentary Studies
   Dream Street premiered at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh. After its ICP showing, the exhibition will be on view at the Center for Creative Photography, the University of Arizona, Tucson, from July 13 through September 29, 2002. A smaller version of the exhibition is tentatively scheduled to be on view at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina in early 2003.
9. Anand Patwardhan -- Documentaries
   According to Patwardhan, the film has not violated any of the guidelines. Citing law and order was just an excuse to prevent the film from being screened, he said. In fact, the film did have one public screening even before the CBFC raised objections. It was shown in February 2002 at the Mumbai International Film Festival, where it was adjudged the Best Film/Video of the festival, and won the International Jury Award. The documentary having received critical acclaim, Patwardhan says he thought that the release certificate would be a mere formality. But that was just the beginning of a protracted battle with the CBFC.
10. Documentary Hypothesis -- Pentateuch
    Recently scholars (Van Seters, Schmid, Rendtorff, Rose, Lemche) have challenged both the documentary hypothesis of the Pentateuch's composition and even the presuppositions supporting literary-critical analysis itself. Likewise ... the dates of the Pentateuchal material come into question. But these studies are not informed by modern structural and linguistic approaches. An approach to exegesis so informed leads to dating the Yahwist's work far earlier than is usually done, well back into the premonarchical period.
