In Ultimate Spider-Man , Doctor Octopus was a lab assistant to Norman Osborn. He was caught in a lab accident, grafting morphing metal arms onto him. He became a killer until stopped by Spider-Man. Afterwards, Doc Ock was cured of his amnesia and remembered the secret identity of Spider-Man. He made an appearance in the Ultimate Six miniseries and then finally in the Hollywood arc before Nick Fury took his original arms and melted them down. However, there have since been hints that Doc Ock might return.

Dr. Otto Octavius, better known as Doctor Octopus or Doc Ock, is a Marvel Comics supervillain, an archenemy of Spider-Man. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #3 (July 1963). Stan Lee has cited that Doctor Octopus is one of his favorite Spider-Man villains. In his first several appearances, Dr. Octopus' last name was spelled "Octavious." All stories since have spelled it Octavius.

In the comic book Doctor Octopus had a hairstyle that makes him look like one of the Beatles during the 60s. He ... wore thick circular glasses that whited out his eyes, giving him more of a menacing look. For the movie translation Raimi's tried to keep Ock's look as close as he can without losing points for fashion disasters; thus, the movie version of Doc Ock has bangs and wears shades to obscure his eyes. Instead of a white labcoat, the movie Octopus wears a green trenchcoat.

Due to exposure to atomic radiation, Doctor Octopus has the ability to control his four artificial tentacle arms, even when they are not even connected to him, even over vast distances. It has been hinted that he may be a low-level technopathic mutant

Without the use of his artificial tentacles, Doctor Octopus possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in no regular exercise. Each of his tentacles is able to lift approximately 8 tons (provided that Octopus supports his harness with at least one other arm in order to prevent the chest harness/skin interface from bearing any part of the effort). With one arm, Octopus can lift an automobile. With two arms, he can throw an automobile tens of feet, or lift a small bus. The pincers on his arms are capable of gripping with a force of 175 pounds per square inch, sufficient to deform any object made of a thin-walled substance less durable than steel. The pincers can, for instance, crush a handgun.

Known Superhuman Powers: Doctor Octopus' abilities derive from his four titanium tentacles. Attached to a stainless-steel harness encircling his lower chest and waist, each telepathically-controlled, telescoping tentacle is capable of moving at speeds of 90 feet per second and can strike with the force of a jackhammer. Also, Doctor Octopus can generate a 50-mph wind by spinning the prehensile limbs like a giant fan. At full extension, the mechanical appendages allow him to travel high above the ground as if on stilts, either using two tentacles, or all four for maximum speed (about 50 mph). Each tentacle is about 5 inches in diameter and terminates in three, single-jointed pincers. The pincers can rotate in relation to the tentacle for 360 degrees, in a screwdriver-like twisting motion.
