1. New York Daily News -- City
   As the grandson of NY Daily News photographer Charles Hoff, this book offered much insight in to family (as well as New York) history. Only a hint at the tremendous photographic contribution of the NYDN can be addressed in one book, even in a volume this large. Still, it reveals fascinating insight in to the last eighty years of New York visual history through stunningly beautiful photographs. The quality is only enhanced by the fact that the book was published just prior to the tragic events of September, 2001 -- the book closes with a wonderfful photograph of the World Trade Center, as well as text by Shawn O'Sullivan that in retrospect is perfectly appropriate -- that the picture press remains vigilant in a constantly changing city.
2. Katie Holmes -- Miscellaneous
   Katie was a bright student and was admitted to the Columbia University in 1997. After delaying enrollment due to an acting schedule conflict, Katie later attended the university in the summer of 2000, studying photography.

   Charlize Theron unveiled her new look at DKNY JEANS Presents “East of Havana” New York City Premiere. Rocking much darker hair and naturalistic makeup the Oscar winner in black/white definitely made a STATEMENT!
4. Bloomingdales -- Bloomingdales.Com
   Bloomingdales.com, the web site of Federated Department Stores Inc.’s stylish department store Bloomingdale’s, announced this week the launch of its first site search engine. Now online shoppers looking for Bloomie’s items not available on the web are no longer left in the dark. The search function directs them to stores and catalogs.
5. Signet Group -- Ernest Jones
   Signet operated 1,742 speciality retail jewelry stores at October 30th, 2004; these included 1,141 stores in the US, where the Group trades as "Kay Jewelers", "Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry" and under a number of regional names. 6. Lenny Kravitz -- Lisa Bonet
   In December of 1987 Kravitz married actress Lisa Bonet in Las Vegas. Bonet then had a regular role on the situation comedy The Cosby Show, and her high-profile career overshadowed his. In December of1988 the two had a baby daughter, Zoe. When Kravitz released his first album, in 1989 he got as much attention for his famous wife, who helped him write two of the songs on the album, as he did for his work.
7. Bloomingdales -- Stores
   As European furnishings and antiques became popular, Bloomingdale’s established a buying office in Paris which was soon followed by offices in other metropolises including Vienna and Berlin. As sales rose, Bloomingdale’s outgrew the new store and Lyman began to acquire the remaining portions of the block. Within 15 years, he had acquired 80 percent of what is now Bloomingdale’s flagship store.
8. Benji Madden -- Good Charlotte
   Benji Madden is a guitarist in the pop-punk band Good Charlotte along with twin brother Joel Madden and friends Billy Martin and Paul Thomas. Good Charlotte has three records self-titled, Young and the Hopeless and The chronicles of life and Death. Benji taught himself how to play guitar at 16 after getting one from his mother one christmas and has been playing ever since.
9. Milla Jovovich -- Divine Comedy
   Milla Jovovich is an ex-teen supermodel/actress who recorded an unexpectedly interesting debut album, The Divine Comedy, in 1994. Far from the trite dance-pop released by most models angling for a music career, Jovovich's debut is largely acoustic, rooted equally in philosophy and her Slavic background, and surprisingly thoughtful and well crafted. 10. Brandy -- Moesha Mitchell
    Brandy followed up with another high-profile career move. Nabbing the star role in the United Paramount Network (UPN) hit sitcom Moesha has elevated her status to prime time. The highly-rated comedy series focuses on the everyday life of the Mitchells, a middle class black family living in South-Central Los Angeles. Brandy plays Moesha Mitchell, the bright, 16-year-old daughter who copes with the normal pressures and complications of teen life with the help of best friends and well-meaning family members. She has a mischievous little brother, hard-working car salesman father, and a new stepmother who teaches at her high school.
