Dizziness: Sensations
built 633 days ago
BPPV is the most common type of dizziness. In BPPV, you experience vertigo, usually when changing head position, such as in rolling over in bed or tilting the head backwards or forwards. BPPV is caused by tiny bone fragments or crystals floating in the inner ear fluid, which causes the sensation of spinning. The most common causes of BPPV are trauma to the head or viral infections of the inner ear, but it may start without any apparent cause.

Ear dizziness may appear as a whirling or spinning sensation, unsteadiness, or giddiness and lightheadedness. It may be constant, but is more often intermittent, and is frequently aggravated by head motion or a sudden change in position. Nausea and vomiting may occur, but one does not lose consciousness as a result of inner ear dizziness.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the most common cause of dizziness is stagnant liver qi which transforms into fire. This fire injures liver yin, creating excess liver yang which ascends to the head and causes the sensation of dizziness.
