The 2005 holiday season at the Disneyland Resort will be a whole lot brighter this year as the traditional Christmas tree in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. goes gold in honor of Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary celebration (continuing daily through 2006). Glittering in gilded splendor the traditional live tree has received the “Midas Touch” with a golden theme to commemorate Disneyland’s half-century milestone.

Hong Kong Disneyland's opening hours will be extended during Golden Week, opening earlier than usual at 9:30am, and closing later at 9:00pm daily from April 30 - May 5, 2006. From May 6-7, the opening hours will be 10.00am to 9.00pm.

The official Disneyland press releases reveals a storyline that puts the guests as members of the Finding Nemo sub crew. Guests will embark on an expedition to observe an active undersea volcano. But soon after departure, they will be delighted to discover their favorite Finding Nemo fish friends getting into the swim of things right alongside their submarine! Nemo and his friends are able to go along for the ride thanks to Disneyland’s new projection technology.

The stars will shine on Thursday, July 14, as Disneyland is honored on the occasion of its milestone 50th anniversary by the Hollywood Historic Trust and Johnny Grant, honorary mayor of Hollywood. In recognition of its 50th anniversary, Disneyland will receive the coveted Award of Excellence star adjacent to the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” during a 10:30 am ceremony next to the El Capitan Theatre. Accepting the award in person on behalf of Disneyland and its 20,000 cast members will be Michael D. Eisner, chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger, CEO-elect and president of The Walt Disney Company and Mickey Mouse. Joining them will be an additional eye-popping cast of 49 Disney Characters on-hand to celebrate the moment.

Mickey's Toontown is Disneyland's newest land. It is ... its silliest land. Mickey's Toontown is where Mickey Mouse and his friends are supposed to live. It is named "Toontown" after a place in the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
