When Submarine Voyage closed, Disneyland announced plans to build a submarine ride based on the Lost Continent of Atlantis, but that never materialized. In 2004, not long after Matt Ouimet became the president of Disneyland, one of the eight submarines in the original fleet, The Neptune, was spotted in the Submarine Lagoon at Disneyland being used to test some special effects for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. On July 15 of 2005 the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage was officially announced.

Michelle attended the premiere of the movie Disney's The Kid on Sunday, June 25, 2000 in Disneyland. Part of Tomorrowland was closed so a wrap party could be held for the movie. Several of the celebrities in attendance rode up in the new Autopia cars, a ride which reopened 4 days later on June 29. Michelle was one of the celebrities who did so, as seen in this picture of Michelle and Spencer Breslin, the star of the movie, riding in the Autopia car. The local FOX station in Los Angeles showed Michelle riding in the car at Disneyland on their 10pm news. She had a big grin on her face, and was obviously having a great time.

Eighteen year old Mel Yorba is stabbed to death at Disneyland, near the Matterhorn ride. He made the fatal mistake of grabbing at James O'Driscoll's girlfriend. O'Driscoll apparently retaliated with a sharp and pointy knife, and was found ninety minutes later hiding in Tomorrowland shrubbery. A jury trial ended in deadlock over his second degree murder charge.
