Disneyland: Disneyland Park
built 630 days ago
One of Disneyland's signature attractions is its monorail service, which opened in Tomorrowland in 1959 as the first daily-operating monorail train system in the Western Hemisphere. The monorail guideway has remained almost exactly the same since 1961, aside from small alterations while Indiana Jones Adventure was being built. Four generations of monorail trains have been used in the park, since their lightweight construction means they wear out quickly. The most recent generation, the Mark V, was installed in 1987 when more modern trains built by Ride & Show Engineering eliminated the old ALWEG Buck Rogers-style trains. The next update will be in 2008, when the Mark VII trains are slated to be installed. The monorail shuttles visitors between two stations, one inside the park in Tomorrowland and one in Downtown Disney.

Disneyland was the first true theme park. There had been amusement parks for years, but it was Walt Disney who came up with the idea of a place for the entertainment of fantasies, specifically fantasies centred in Disney movies, for the most part. It was his hope that visitors to the park would have the same sense of escape from everyday life afforded by his films. He ... wanted to create a place for families to spend the day having fun together. He first conceived of the park in the 1930s but had to postpone development until after World War 2.

During the peak of summer, The Disneyland Resort work force includes nearly 14,000 men and women. Winter period employees total 12,500. More than 5,000 gallons of paint are used each year to give the Park a better-than-new look. There are almost 20 million gallons of water in the ten bodies of water found in Disneyland. There are more than 100,000 light bulbs used in Disneyland, including 11,000 "rim lights" used to outline the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A. The streets of the Park are washed and steam-cleaned after the Park closes each day.
Cynthia Rylant: Walt Disney's Cinderella Disneyland will be built in Krasnoyarsk by 2012. It was announced by Krasnoyarsk deputy mayor Anatoly Grigorenko at the news conference on October 30. Grigorenko said it was planned to build the children park in the area of Northern Highway, which held much promise for construction.
Main Street, U.S.A is the first land people see when they come into Disneyland. It was built to look like a small American town, much like the one Mr. Disney grew up in. A station for the Disneyland Railroad can be found here. It is located at the entrance to Disneyland. Mr. Disney and some of his workers loved trains and wanted a railroad in their new park. Guests can ride steam-powered trains for a ride around the edge of Disneyland. They can ... ride a streetcar pulled by a horse, a double-deck bus and even a small fire engine.
