Disneyland Paris - Castle If there is one thing you will never have a problem finding in Disneyland Paris, it's stores. Various themed and general stores are spread liberally throughout the park, selling Disney merchandise and general memorabilia. They carry everything from pencils to books, from Indiana Jones fedora hats to Cinderella costumes. The sky is basically the limit on the money you can spend at Disneyland Paris - you can buy glass/crystal trinkets and sword replicas in the central castle. If you come to Disneyland Paris with children, be prepared to reach deep into your pockets; cowboy hats and pistols or knights' swords seem to be essentials for boys; Cinderella costumes for girls. Either way, a set of goodies for a child will probably set you back approximately €50.

The magic of a short break in Disneyland Paris comes from the attention to detail in recreating a world of fantasy. Employees are ‘cast members’ and the parks are spotlessly clean, with perfectly running machinery and puppets as part of the parks attractions. There are no duplicates of Disney characters on the park and visitors will be sure to meet many of their favourite Disney characters on their travels around the massive theme park. The park is geared towards families and children, but there are plenty of attractions to enchant the parks older visitors too on a Disneyland Paris holiday.
Officially opened on July 17, 1955, all was not rosy during the early days of Disneyland park, especially on opening day, when 6,000 guests were invited but 28,000 showed up for the festivities! Rides broke down, streets leading to the park were jammed, and shoes sank into the still-soft concrete! But, before long - and in inimitable Disney fashion - the staff and Imagineers at Disneyland had everything under control and the park soon became one of Southern California's most popular tourist destinations.
