Disney Channel is a cable network owned by the Walt Disney Company. Its first broadcast was on April 18, 1983, as a 16-hour-a-day pay cable channel. It soon changed to a 24-hour-a-day channel, and in 1997 became a basic cable channel.
The Walt Disney Company’s new food guidelines, which were announced on October 16, are aimed at giving parents and children healthier eating options. The guidelines will govern Disney’s business partnerships and activities in the U.S. on a going-forward basis and will be adapted internationally over the next several years. In addition to the efforts at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Consumer Products has already begun to offer many licensed products that comply with the guidelines.

In celebration of 50 years of Disneyland magic, The Walt Disney Company inducted the 2005 "class" of Disney Legends for their roles in creating the company's treasure trove of entertainment, particularly their part in creating "The Happiest Place on Earth." Today's 10:00am ceremony was presented in the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland. Following the awards presentation the honorees participated in a hand-print ceremony.
In this newly established role, George will direct the marketing strategies for Disney Channel and Disney-branded television businesses across the Asia-Pacific region and oversee the development of television franchises by working closely with other divisions of The Walt Disney Company.
